Silver Lake Fabrication
4-POST CONSTRUCTION TRACTOR COVERS

Silver Lake Fabrication makes heavy-duty covers for 4-post industrial and construction tractors. These are machines that have 4 posts, typically a roof, and DO NOT have a fully enclosed cabin. A few examples of these machines are listed below.

There are lots of 4-post industrial and construction tractors out there, and if you have one, we can make a cover for you, IF you're willing to operate a tape measure. If you're not willing to operate a tape measure, you can close your browser window right now, because they are more complicated to design for than a standard tractor with only a roll bar. Also, no, we will not drive to a local dealer or to your home to measure for you. If you don't like that, pour a bucket of cold water over your head. The information that we require is simple, and some tractors will require additional measurements to tailor the fit, but we have provided detailed diagrams below showing the measurements that we require for the posts on your tractor. In addition to the measurements, please also let us know what the make and model of your tractor is and if you have a vertical exhaust. If you have a vertical (above the hood) exhaust stack, additional measurments will be required as well.

WHAT IS THE MATERIAL?
HOW DO THEY WORK?

There's no way around it, our covers are made from the toughest materials that we can find that are reasonable to use. The base sheet of our cover is a 22 oz. vinyl coated polyester tarp material that isn't just coated during manufacturing, it's saturatd all the way through when with vinyl when made. The internal polyester fiber is the same fabric that ratchet straps and seat belts are made of and it makes for a super strong and tear resistant fabric. Add that to the vinyl and it's a super water-proof, extremely tough base sheet material.

As you can see in our pictures and diagrams, WE DO NOT USE CRIMPED IN GROMMETS. What we use instead are 3/16" thick zinc plated steel D-rings that are quadruple sewn onto the cover. We typically attach the D-rings at 12" intervals where we place 2" wide polyester webbing reinforcement. That means that you don't have to worry about lashing points tearing out, as do crimped-in grommets. On top of all of that, we reinforce every edge of our covers with the same 2" wide webbing to ensure that you NEVER have a problem with one of our covers. At this point, we've tested our covers in 80 MPH winds on the highway, both sub-zero and 110+ temperatures for months at a time, and simply beat the snot out of them when testing. The short of it is that this ain't no home store tarp!

So how do they work? Our 4-post covers are made to fit over the main portion of your tractor and go around the four posts of your operator station. The covers have a T-shaped slot that fits around the rear set of uprights and two slots that are placed to fit around your front set of uprights. To the right is the type of diagram that we have to draw for every 4-post tractor cover that we design. The diagram shown is for a Kubota L47. The idea is that the cover fits around your posts and you "gift wrap" the rear of the machine with straps (see bottom of page for recommended straps - NOT included) and then pull the tail flap over the seat and over the rear of the machine to provide as much protection as possible. For the front uprights, the slots go in from the outer edges and allows the cover to fit between the uprights. To hold the slots closed, we recommend using the same 7/16" lynch pins that you use on a 3-point hitch.

WHAT ABOUT PRICING?

If we are adding front post slots to an existing open station compact tractor cover design, your cover will be $100-$150 more than our standard designs. However, if we are designing a completely custom cover from scratch for your equipment, you can expect it to be 15-20% more per square foot plus the additional $100-$150 compared to our standard tractor covers. Please remember, a considerable amount of time (1-2 hours) goes into the designing of a custom cover as we have to provide a full set of drawings for our production team. Please bear this in mind when working with us. Remember, we only charge what we absolutely have to, but we are a business.

If you would like to have a custom cover produced for your 4-post construction or industrial tractor, we STRONGLY recommend giving us a call.

EXISTING 4-POST COVER DESIGNS

We have only just added our 4-post covers to our website, but we will be building our list of existing designs. As of yet, we only have a completed design for a Kubota L47, and we are offering that cover for sale below. We are looking for all customers who need covers for their 4-post tractor, but to the right is a list of machines that we most want to design and make covers for. Our covers are built-to order and typically ship in 5-7 business days.

Local pick-up is not available for this item and we cannot ship to PO boxes. We are only able to ship to addresses within the continental US.

VERTICAL EXHAUST SLOTS

If your 4-post tractor has a vertical exhaust stack that is above the hood, we need a few more additional measurements for your machine that allow us to place a hole and slot in the cover to allow the cover to fit around your exhaust. With this design, you don't have to wrestle the cover over your muffler and possibly cause damage to the cover. Please be aware that the hole will actually be square. The heavy-duty webbing reinforcement doesn't make sharp bends and just gets bunched up if we try to make tight circles with it. In order for us to build a cover to accommodate a vertical exhaust pipe, there are a few simple dimensions we require from your machine. First, we need to know if your vertical exhaust is on the right or left side of your hood. We then need you to provide us with dimensions A, B, and C shown on the diagram below. Please be aware that dimension "A" is always measured from the rear set of uprights on a tractor with a 4-post operator station.

When we produce the drawings for our production team, we will ALWAYS round up to the nearest inch for the diameter of your muffler or exhaust pipe, and we ALWAYS add an extra inch of material to the actual measurement taken from your tractor for dimension A on our diagram. Please be aware that the final design is ALWAYS based on the dimensions you specify, even if your measurements are wrong. How would we even know if you misread your tape measure? Be careful when taking these measurements, as we will provide you with a cover made to the specifications YOU provide and returns are NOT accepted. If you have questions about our diagram below, please give us a call.
